The New Prophet
A funny thing happened on the way to the old City of Jerusalem.
A pilgrimage for me and thousands of others of all faiths, we
traveled to bear witness to an extraordinary "happening"
on 8/24, 2011 in Jerusalem, Israel. For me and many others from
all over the United States and the world, what started out as
an act of courage, was transformed into a reaffirmation of enlightenment
displayed by the goodness in us all, love of another, even when
the love for those who are different are really equal in the
eyes of God. We seemed to innately answer the sound of the ram's
horn call, to join with this new unassuming prophet among us,
who barrels forward at an unrelenting pace, apparently motivated
by his faith, his belief in the common sense of man and evaluating
the sign posts of history ... Glenn Beck the new
Prophet. Prophet you say ... Not Glenn Beck ... This can't be,
because he is the 21st Century Chicken Little, a rabble rouser
and an evangelical pied piper.
When I used to think of what a prophet might be, it came to my
mind someone who can foretell the future, a soothsayer. Prophets
are historically, those who dare speak out against injustice
... waving a red flag, while risking their life and their family's
safety. But, why do these persons do this you ask? Sometimes
they don't know the answer,
because seemed to be drawn or pulled in that direction. Beck
has become a student of history and has concluded that as history
repeats itself, the warning signs of the inhumanity to man is
rearing it' ugly head ... once again. Is this not time to say
Never Again?
Ironically, sign posts and conclusions are there for all to see
which way the world is moving. Mankind has a weakness in viewing
the same picture while seeing two totally perceived results.
For those of us who allowed our pupils to be opened wide, eventually
can recognize the truths by connecting the dots to get a picture.
Each of us needs the courage, along with strength and with truth
to not deceive ourselves. We must now embrace, risk and challenge
ourselves to stand against the continuous re-emerging injustices
in our world. That is why the people of Israel, the idea of a
Land of Israel, and all Jewish people along with Gentiles from
all over the world must say enough anti-Semitism, against the
Hebrew nation.
What is different now, is the added chorus of Christians and
even some Moslems, who stand at this new line in the sand, so
we can protect and restore western civilization's values. Is
it no wonder that in the present, as in the past, omeone like
Beck emerges to become a beacon of awareness?
Never again is the battle cry as we all stand against premeditated
destruction of God's covenant with the Jewish people. Beck has
blown the shofar, and has alerted us to stand with courage against
this evil. I have been witness here in Jerusalem, to Jew standing
next to Gentile having s common bond of strength, faith in God
and seeing the truth of what is before us. Beware to those that
challenge God's will and whom mock Beck, and all people's throughout
the world standing with him as a bulwark against those wishing
to destroy Israel.
The old city in Jerusalem has now been given testimony by thousands
of us new pilgrims to defend, protect and give a renewed glory
to God of Abraham. For those who do not wish to show an alliance
with the Judeo-Christian philosophy, or do not believe in God,
it is not for me to judge you, but remind you that you live on
a land shaped by the tenants of this God that has brought you
to where you are.
I feel privileged to have heeded the call of Beck the Prophet.
Not because I hold this man up on a pedestal or look upon him
as some angelic figure. He is just a mortal man driven by his
spirit for a Beckin call for humanity as he will not let the
tea leaves of history be swept under the rug.
As for me, as an American Jew, who from childhood at Sunday school
sang the "Hatikvah" the national anthem of Israel,
dreaming always to return to this far off land of my heritage?
What is impossible to describe is the feeling of
singing the Hatikvah near Solomons Temple in Jerusalem,
not only with other Jews, but with Christians after two thousand
years. It is an unprecedented statement of solidarity. To me
that was the miracle vvv vof 8/24; all because a guy named Glenn
Beck, the Prophet, sounded the ram's horn and said "Come
with me to Jerusalem and we shall show
the world our stand for Israel". We must learn from the
courage of the Israeli people and With God's counsel ... we shall
have the faith to make the world safer for us all.
